Latest information for Year 7 2019

Trinity Academy was oversubscribed for entry into Year 7 in September 2019.  120 places were allocated as follows:

Fifth Round 

Following the outcome of the fourth round of allocation of places, 32 applicants requested to go on the waiting list which included 10 late applicants.

Trinity Academy had 4 places to reoffer in the fifth round.  The school remains oversubscribed; the waiting list was re ranked in line with the over subscription criteria, in order of priority, as set out in the admission arrangements 2019/20 to reallocate these places. This included a fresh round of random allocation, supervised by an independent person. Remaining unsuccessful applicants were drawn randomly and placed on to the waiting list.

Fifth Round allocation

0 places have been reserved at the request of the SEN team for children with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

The 120 places have been allocated by applying the over subscription criteria, in order of priority, as set out in the published admission arrangements 2019/20 for the 2nd round of allocation:

  • ‘Looked after’ children or ‘previously looked after’ children - 3 places.
  • Feeder School - 24 places.
  • Siblings - none
  • Music Specialists - 12 places.
  • Inner priority area - 20 places.
  • Outer priority area - 31 places.
  • Out of priority area - 30 places.

Following the outcome of the third round of allocation of places, 28 applicants requested to go on the waiting list which included 11 late applicants.

Trinity Academy had 5 places to reoffer in the fourth round.  The school remains oversubscribed; the waiting list was re ranked in line with the over subscription criteria, in order of priority, as set out in the admission arrangements 2019/20 to reallocate these places. This included a fresh round of random allocation, supervised by an independent person. Remaining unsuccessful applicants were drawn randomly and placed on to the waiting list.

This included a fresh round of random allocation, supervised by an independent person. Remaining unsuccessful applicants were drawn randomly and placed on to the waiting list.

0 places have been reserved at the request of the SEN team for children with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

Following the outcome of the first round allocation of places, 71 applicants requested to go on the waiting list which included 31 late applicants.

Trinity Academy had 48 places to re offer in the second round. The school remains oversubscribed; the waiting list was re ranked in line with the over subscription criteria, in order of priority, as set out in the admission arrangements 2019/20 to reallocate these places. This included a fresh round of random allocation, supervised by an independent person. Remaining unsuccessful applicants were drawn randomly and placed on to the waiting list.

Second Round allocation

0 places have been reserved at the request of the SEN team for children with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

The 120 places have been allocated by applying the over subscription criteria, in order of priority, as set out in the published admission arrangements 2019/20 for the 2nd round of allocation:

  • ‘Looked after’ children or ‘previously looked after’ children - 4 places.
  • Feeder School - 24 places.
  • Siblings - none
  • Music Specialists - 12 places. (4 places were re offered in the 2nd round)
  • Inner priority area - 20 places.
  • Outer priority area - 29 places.
  • Out of priority area - 31 places.

First Round

Trinity Academy received 221 on-time applications for the 120 places available and was therefore unable to offer places to every applicant who applied.

1 place was reserved at the request of the SEN team for children with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

The remaining 119 places were allocated by applying the over subscription criteria, in order of priority, as set out in the published admission arrangements 2019/20 for the 1st round of allocation:

  • ‘Looked after’ children or ‘previously looked after’ children- 2 places.
  • Feeder School - 27 places.
  • Siblings - none.
  • Music Specialists - 12 places.
  • Inner priority area - 19 places.
  • Outer priority area - 59 places.
  • Out of priority area - none.

Appeals Information - Year 7 September 2019

Parents have the right of appeal under The Education Act to an independent panel, against the decision not to offer your child a place at Trinity Academy for September 2019.

Parents should submit Year 7 2019 appeal forms within 20 days of being refused a place at Trinity Academy to the Admissions Officer, c/o Cathedral Schools Trust, College Square, Bristol, BS1 5TS.

Year 7 appeals will be heard within 30 school days from when the appeal is lodged.
